What are peptides, small molecules, and bioregulators?

This section covers peptides, small molecules, and bioregulators — commonly all just called "peptides." Between them, this category is known to help with a remarkable range of things:

Peptides are basically signaling molecules that talk to your cells and tell them what to do, in a language your body already understands. Most of them are either native to your own body, or fragments of signaling molecules that are.

Why the sudden explosion in peptides?

You may have a friend who's had a bad knee since an injury years ago — for the last ten years, it's caused pain any time they overdid it a little. Then they started taking a peptide, and now their knee seldom bothers them. They also noticed other little aches and pains were largely gone too, and they're back to playing tennis and golfing after years of not being able to. This is a common occurrence.

You might know someone whose skin has visibly improved — who now looks years younger, noticeably, not just to you but to everyone around them. They told you about a peptide combination they're using.

You may have a coworker who's struggled with their weight for years, always on some diet, never with lasting success — and who's recently lost a significant amount of weight and told you they haven't felt this good in years. They're taking a peptide, and even their doctor liked what was happening in their bloodwork: A1C down, cholesterol improved, modest improvement in blood pressure, now in the normal range. They also mention their little aches and pains have largely vanished.

These stories aren't uncommon. Literally millions of people are using peptides. Doctors are hearing their patients report these things, and a real shift is happening.

Why we built this site

You could be here for one of these reasons, or you could just be curious. Either way, we understand, and we're here to help demystify peptides and their use.

We are not making recommendations, and it needs to be stated plainly: the vast majority of these peptides are what's called research use only. We can't tell you that peptides are safe or FDA-approved — in many cases, they aren't. We don't know if you intend to use them, are already taking them, or where you acquired them.

This site does not sell peptides. It's intended to be a resource, not medical advice.

We hear stories about people doing things they shouldn't with peptides, and that's the reason we built this site — to give people a real reference to work from. Many people who are new to peptides don't know how to reconstitute them, don't know how to inject them, and don't know what dosage to use. These things can vary widely between different practitioners, or even people on Instagram and YouTube. The guidelines here are intended to stay within safe, commonly used practices.

Is it safe? What we know.

What we can tell you is that a million or more people are using peptides today. People ask about safety, and here's the honest picture: with literally millions of people using them for everything listed above, there have been very few real safety incidents over the past several years.

In fact, they're so rare that people who want to argue peptides are dangerous keep telling the same story from about five years ago — a couple of women at a biohacking/peptide seminar in Las Vegas who were given an injection of some peptide combination by a vendor at a booth, and both had anaphylaxis and ended up in the hospital. They also both were released and were fine.

If peptides were seriously, broadly dangerous, you'd hear about it in the news daily. Are there incidents? Yes. Are they common? No — and if they were, you'd hear about them. We've been doing this a long time, and there are very few real stories about actual issues.

We are aware of some common minor side effects certain peptides have, and we'll list those. We're also aware of things you shouldn't combine certain peptides with — medications, supplements, and so on — and we'll note those where relevant. Since that Las Vegas incident, literally hundreds of thousands of people have continued to take peptides.

The most common mistake we see

By far the most common issue today: people taking weight-loss peptides and starting at much too high a dose because they didn't know better — they were told wrong, didn't understand the difference between units and milligrams, or just wanted quicker results. All bad ideas, and all largely avoidable.

Almost all of the so-called weight-loss peptides — GLP-1s like semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide — need to be started at a small dose so your body can adjust. Take a large first dose of any of these and you will be extremely nauseous, possibly with diarrhea or even vomiting. This typically doesn't happen when someone starts with a small dose and lets their body adjust — the dose is then slowly ramped up over the coming weeks to what's called your maintenance dose.

What you'll find on this site

How things should be taken and handled. Safe handling — peptides not yet reconstituted are stored in the freezer; once reconstituted, they're stored in the refrigerator, pulled out only to be used and then put right back. Sanitary practice — swabbing the top of the peptide vial with an alcohol wipe, and your body with an alcohol wipe where you intend to inject. These are all things someone new to this may not know.
